On the day of the practical driving test for the B license, the examiner asks three oral questions about the vehicle. These questions are drawn from an official list, and most candidates seek to obtain this list in PDF format for revision. The problem is that search results mix outdated documents, incomplete files, and versions that pertain to other countries or other categories of licenses.

Three parts of the oral questioning, not just one

Before looking for a PDF, it is important to understand what these famous verification questions cover. The oral questioning for the B license is not limited to internal checks of the vehicle.

It is divided into three distinct parts:

  • An internal verification question (dashboard, controls, driving position adjustments)
  • An external verification question (condition of lights, tires, levels under the hood, hazard signal)
  • A question about first aid (alerting, protecting a victim, cardiac arrest, recovery position)

A PDF that only addresses internal checks is therefore incomplete. This is the case for the file hosted on Fichier-PDF.fr since October 2015, which only covers one-third of the questioning. Downloading this single document would give a false impression of preparation.

To properly prepare for the test, one needs a document that combines questions related to the vehicle (both internal and external) and those related to first aid gestures. The free PDF file for driving license verification questions allows access to the complete versions and checks their compliance with the current exam format.

PDF verification questions: how to spot a reliable document

Have you noticed that most free PDFs do not mention their source or their update date? This is the first warning sign.

The reference document comes from the Delegation for Road Safety (DSR), a department attached to the Ministry of the Interior. The question bank is based on a DSR/BRPCE document dated January 21, 2023. The versions found online are generally editorial reproductions of this same base.

Several criteria allow for quickly sorting a relevant PDF from an unusable file:

  • The document explicitly mentions the B license and the practical test in France (not a Belgian theoretical exam or an Ecuadorian class B license)
  • It covers the three parts: internal checks, external checks, and first aid
  • It indicates a reference date or version number, ideally after 2023
  • It does not require any paid registration or account creation to be downloaded

Platforms like Scribd sometimes offer relevant documents, but often impose a thirty-day free trial followed by a subscription. This is not truly free.

Typical content of the questions: checks and first aid

What do these questions actually look like? Knowing their format helps to memorize them better.

For internal checks, the examiner might ask you to show the low beam control, explain how the defrosting works, or check that the hazard signal is functioning. The expected response is a gesture accompanied by a brief explanation.

The external checks focus on the visible condition of the vehicle: show how to check the condition of a tire, open the hood and indicate where the brake fluid reservoir is located, check visibility through the windshield. The examiner observes both the gesture and the candidate’s ability to name what they are showing.

The first aid part is often the one that surprises. You may be asked how to protect a victim of an accident on the road, how to alert emergency services via 15 or 112, or describe the steps of a cardiac massage while waiting for a defibrillator. These questions count towards the final score just like the vehicle checks.

Common pitfalls with free verification license PDFs

The first pitfall is age. A file from 2015 does not reflect the current test format. Questions related to first aid did not exist in this form at that time. Revising with a document that is too old amounts to preparing for an exam that no longer exists.

The second pitfall concerns confusion between countries and categories. A quick search brings up Belgian driving tests, Ecuadorian question banks, or Italian quizzes for motorcycle licenses. Always check that the document pertains to the French B license and the practical test (not the highway code).

The third pitfall is completeness. Some PDFs only list internal questions, while others omit the answers. A good revision document associates each question with the expected answer and, if possible, the corresponding gesture.

Lastly, the so-called “2026” or “2025” versions found on some blogs are often reproductions of the same DSR document from 2023, with an updated title for SEO purposes. This is not necessarily a problem if the content is complete, but it means that there may not be a new edition every year.

The most effective preparation combines reading the official PDF with practical training in the vehicle. Knowing how to locate the windshield washer motor or the engine failure indicator on the sheet does not replace the actual gesture, the one the examiner evaluates on the day of the test.
